Finding the Evidence: Workshops on Evidence-Based Health Care Resources
![]()
Three workshops will be offered on how to locate and effectively use sources of authoritative health-related information useful in the practice of evidence-based health care (EBHC). Each workshop will consist of two parts: a lecture/demonstration of resources followed by a computer hands-on session. You may choose to attend either one or both parts of a workshop. All sessions will be held the week of November 7, 2000.
Workshop #1 - OVERVIEW - evidence-based health care resources, including reference books, article indexes (e.g., Medline and HealthStar), Cochrane reviews, and clinical practice guidelines (e.g., National Guideline Clearinghouse).
Tuesday, 11/7 lecture/demo noon-12:45 room 555 Diehl Hall
Hands-on 1:00-1:45 Computer demo area, 2nd floor Diehl Hall
Workshop #2 - COCHRANE LIBRARY, ACP Best Evidence, & MEDLINE FILTERS - databases, such as the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews and ACP Best Evidence, contain rigorous reviews and evaluations of the literature, rather than primary research reports.
